The lights on, the noise of people taking their seats in the room, the whispering of those present waiting for the show to begin. Welcome and thanks in these cases are a must, many of the people present have always supported the work that we do as a School to train actors and actresses.
We are at Cinema Theater "R. Gentile" of Cittanova once again to celebrate an important stage in the journey of our students through art.
The evening is for them and for those who gave their time so that this ceremony could be the crowning achievement they deserved to have.
Three years after the start of their academic career, on June 6th Francesco Mansueto, Sara Martino and Lara Cardone graduated from SRC at the end of their experience in the School. They started in the middle of the pandemic and resisted by choosing to continue their studies with dedication, despite the period. With a lot of commitment and sacrifice they completed the Triennio and the teaching between online and in-person lessons.
On June 6th they graduated, they did so as actors and actresses, exciting the audience and making them get to the heart of their representation, with the ability to convey the depth of a very delicate and strong topic due to its current relevance: the stigma and discomfort of young people.
The way in which they were able to internalize it and interpret it through two different languages, that of cinema and that of theatre, gave life to two works that speak of hidden truths in a reality that confuses them and does not know how to recognize them.
The first is the film short “The Life Syndrome” directed by Davide Carbone with the participation of the great Giorgio Colangeli.
The second is the theatrical performance “Stigma” conceived and directed by the founder and director of the SRC Walter Cordopatri, focused on the universe of mental illness and the stigma that is created around it.
The audience's response was a sign of what our boys and girls brought and left on stage. The confirmation of what has been studied and learned over the Triennio and the reward (not to be taken for granted) that gives every actor or actress the emotion of having reached their audience. An audience that welcomed them with emotion and applauded their performance.
It was an extraordinary evening with friends, families and associations in which he also participated Cristina Bovalino representing the municipal administration, several teachers of the School: Giovanni Gangemi, Floriana Agresta, Renata Falcone, Federica Sottile, Alessia Traviglia, Giada Grandinetti, Alessandro Arnò, Elisa Marta in wonderland, Davide Carbone, Giuseppe Lombardo, and many people who packed the theater.
It was an event that left its mark thanks also to the participation of the various guests who followed one another on stage: Renata Falcone representing the teaching staff who introduced the graduating students, Floriana Agresta, teacher of the Dance Course who introduced the students selected for "Swan Lake" in Syracuse, Giorgio Colangeli, Educational Coordinator of the School and psychotherapist Teresa Politanò which introduced the topics of mental health and stigma.
And thanks to the performances of other young artists: all the students of the dance and acting courses with theirs tributes to graduating students with exciting choreography, Michele Bruzzese, very young singer, participant of The Voice Kids who sang a wonderful “Pensieri e Parole” by Lucio Battisti.
Leading the evening, the esteemed Marco Mauro. An evening whose emotions remain and also that bit of nostalgia, natural at the end of a journey.
We like, however, to think that every end is a beginning. And from today our graduated actors and actresses are entering the world of acting with a wealth of experience and awareness with which we are confident they will face their challenges, each continuing to follow their own star.
It goes to them, with great pride a huge good luck!
