A place transformed through culture
Calabria Acting School occupies Cittanova’s former district prison, built in 1904. A building once designed to separate people is now open to the community, bringing training, artistic production and exchange together under one roof.
The restoration gave a new purpose to more than 3,000 square metres in the centre of town. Former cells became classrooms, while shared areas now host rehearsals, lessons, workshops and cultural events.
Spaces for training and performance
The campus includes rooms for acting and movement, a dubbing studio, facilities for audiovisual work, a theatre seating approximately one hundred people and a stone courtyard used for gatherings and open-air performances.
This range of spaces allows students to move directly from training to practice: from vocal and physical preparation to rehearsal, performance and work for the camera.
