A citadel of art

The SRC Campus

The former Cittanova prison is today a space of over 3,000 square meters dedicated to creativity and training.

The SRC Campus

From Prison to Creative Campus

SRC's home is a building most Calabrians remember for the opposite reason people now visit it. The school occupies the Ex Carcere 1904 in Cittanova, a former prison, operational until the late 1980s, inside the Polo Solidale per la Legalità 'F. Vinci', made available by the municipal administration. Cells have become classrooms; the site now covers more than 3,000 square metres given over to actor training.

On site

  • Three fully equipped acting rehearsal rooms
  • A dance studio
  • A professional dubbing studio
  • Reading rooms for study and preparation
  • A 100-seat theatre
  • A canteen and relaxation area
  • Changing rooms and full facilities

Outside, a 19th-century stone courtyard hosts open-air staging and rehearsal, and a panoramic terrace looks out over the Aspromonte National Park on one side and the Tyrrhenian Sea on the other. Every corner of the building tells the same story in different terms: not confinement, but expression; not isolation, but community.
