The Calabria Acting School, conceived and directed by the actor Walter Cordopatri, offers its MasterClass students new teaching disciplines, thus increasing the already high level of its training offer. Therefore, to the classic subjects (Acting, Diction, Poetry, Theatrical Ethics, Film Direction, Acting, Clowning, History of Cinema, Theater Dance, Dance, Fencing, Horse Riding, Acrobatics, Yoga) are added "Makeup and Image", taught by the teacher Nadia Mastroieni; “Mimicry, Micromimicry and Proxemics”, curated by the teacher Santo Nicito; “Career Training” held by the teacher Jessica Granato and “Techniques and Methods”, held by the Director Cordopatri. “Makeup and Image” allows students to discover and learn the techniques of cinematographic make-up and makeup suited to the needs of cinema and theatre, preparing them for the most varied needs of the world of work, in the absence of a make-up artist.
At the end of the course the students will therefore be able to create, based on the theme proposed by the script, the image of a character through make-up interventions consistent with the psychological state, costumes, hairstyle, physical and aesthetic characteristics of the characters. “Mimicry, Micro Mimicry and Proxemics” is a discipline that allows the student to learn to reproduce the authentic expression of an emotion (mimicry), the ability to express psychological reactions, feelings, passions not with large gestures, which in the theater must be amplified due to the distance from the audience, but with those small variations of expression that the “close-up” highlights (micro mimicry) and to study human space and the interpersonal distance that people maintain in interactions and which varies based on formalities and familiarity (proxemics). The "Career Training" instead consists of preparing the student/aspiring actor for the world of work, helping him to best deal with a casting, to know how to navigate artistic environments also in bureaucratic terms, essentially to become his own entrepreneur, while the "Techniques and methods" discipline imparts to the student the various acting techniques used mostly in cinema and theater which allow him to associate the actor with his own character, researching and discovering every little facet.
The Acting School, which changed location a few weeks ago, moving to the structure that housed the former Civic Museum of Natural History of Cittanova, located on Provincial Road 1, at number 98, is busy with auditions for the entire month of November (every Saturday, from 4pm to 7pm) to select the students who will access the Triennio Accademico 2021/2023, which can be accessed by all those who have already obtained the diploma of maturity.
