In recent years our students have made us proud in many moments, inside and outside the School. In the way they approach each lesson or workshop, with commitment and concentration, there is all their essence and their special individuality which, once outside, manages to reach even those on set who see them for the first time.
One of them is Nicole Sorace, who started from SRC and arrived on the set and in the cast of the magical Disney+ world of Omen and The Good Mothers, where she played the sister of Alfonso Cacciola, played in turn by Vincenzo Oppedisano, another Src student.
Nicole teaches us that dreaming gives wings to desires and can make them reach the top, even and especially when you are young. You can face everything, even reconciling the commitments of school and acting school and even the set, as long as you put love into what you do.
When the casting director of the Disney production, Teresa Razzauti, gave the Calabria Acting School the opportunity to hold auditions, Nicole was among the girls we consistently prepared. We also worked more than 8 hours a day to create self tapes, "self-recordings" in which actors and actresses independently record their own auditions and then send them to those who have to evaluate them.
In this short interview Nicole shared with us some steps of her journey, from before she started acting to today.
How old were you when you started acting?
I started acting by enrolling in the Calabria Acting School at the age of 11.
What was it like having to balance school with acting school, and being on set?
It has certainly never been very easy, but thanks to the great love I feel for what I do, having to reconcile school with my passion has never weighed too much.
How much did the Calabria Acting School help you grow and recognize your strengths?
The Calabria Acting School introduced me to the world of cinema, accompanying me throughout my journey, it taught me and gave me a lot, and always helped me, whenever I needed it.
How did it go with the cast, how did you experience these moments?
I enjoyed every moment of the castings I've done over the years, I had fun and above all I learned so many useful things for my future as an actress. When the first positive responses arrived I experienced emotions I had never felt before: being part of a film project is incredible.
But Disney really is a magic world?
As a girl who grew up watching films and TV series produced by Disney, I can confirm that having had the opportunity to work on them is even more magical than I thought. A dream that becomes reality.
Why is acting at your age good for you?
Acting is good for all ages but especially during adolescence it helps in many aspects: it dissolves shyness, it helps you get to know your body and mind better and helps you express yourself better by working hard but above all by having fun.
Three good reasons why a young person like you should enroll in the Calabria Acting School.
To get to know new worlds and new people, to work more on your person, but above all to make your dreams come true.
It is the first time, in the cinematographic field, that a Calabrian girl is the co-protagonist in a Disney film. And we are proud of her results and of having guided her to these successes, which we are sure will be the first of a long series.
