The SRC – Calabria Acting School arrives on the radio

The SRC – Calabria Acting School, broadens its horizons and arrives on the radio. The School, conceived and directed by the actor Walter Cordopatri, participated in the tender “ANGinRadio more than before” published by the National Agency for Youth, to finance projects that envisage the creation of digital radios aimed at young people, with the aim of encouraging their active participation, inclusion, innovation and creativity, through the use of new technologies. Financed by the Youth Policy Fund of the Presidency of the Council and by community resources, it aims to promote the direct involvement of young people in all the issues that concern them, through "ANGinRadio", the institutional digital radio network of the National Agency for Youth born in 2019 and which now has 44 stations present in 13 regions which are animated by the commitment of 600 young people.

The radio will therefore be a tool for informing and listening to young people, often protagonists of radio broadcasts together with experts from the world of politics, culture, information, work and society. The original SRC proposal, called "Cittanova SRC tour", which has also demonstrated good ability to network with other local entities (such as the Municipality of Cittanova, Radio Eco Sud, Recosol and Libera), was thus admitted to the financing and for the next 8 months (the project has already been launched on 24 September) will involve its students in the creation of around 30 podcasts which will address various themes, including Europe, legality, immigration, racism, entrepreneurial culture, art, cinema, theatre, radio drama and books (related to the themes). Four months will be dedicated to the activities envisaged by the tender, and another four to follow up, implementation and communication activities. During the implementation phases of the project, various training courses will be held, held by SRC teachers, including: speaker (Santo Nicito), vocal education (Mario Parlagreco), creation of a radio drama (Walter Cordopatri), with the collaboration of those who have worked in radio and successful startuppers. Furthermore, local meetings with role models and remote interviews with euro peers are planned.

THE PROJECT

The objective of the project presented by the SRC is to promote social inclusion, fight racism, develop a spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship, train young people for work through the development of hard and soft skills and promote communication skills. Asylum seekers, part of the Siproimi Network, will be involved, thanks to the collaboration with the Recosol network and young people from the Libera association. There are 13 young people directly involved in the radio team, but another 100 young people of all ages, students of the Prosopon association, to which the SRC belongs, will participate in the activities. During the course of the project, communication and implementation activities are planned, with the organization of local events and information notices, to also involve local schools. The objectives are: reducing cultural differences and social obstacles, impacting geographical obstacles, strengthening information in areas characterized by phenomena of hardship and deviance, resilience, life changes and social redemption.

Europeaners will be involved through interviews, organized by the group of young people, remotely. The role models, however, will be involved through invitations to the venue or with visits to the identified places. During the meetings, interviews will take place to record the stories and create podcasts.
