On June 24th the SRC, the Municipality of Cittanova (RC), together with girls and boys from eight Italian regions will celebrate the historic Giffoni festival
There Calabria Acting School, created and directed by Walter Cordopatri, is proud to host the June 24, 2021 The Giffoni Day, the special day during which thousands of girls and boys from eight Italian regions, together with mayors and institutional representatives of their territories, will gather to celebrate the history of Giffoni and the values that for the last 51 years they cemented its community.
And Cittanova represents a very important hub of this community: boasts an acting school that Giffoni helped support, where hundreds of young people work daily to spread culture, art and entertainment and find their profession.
Over the years, numerous students of the school have participated in the Giffoni Film Festival as judges, guests and it is with great enthusiasm that they will celebrate the very important and significant milestone of #Giffoni50.
“It will be an extraordinary day – he stated the founder and director of Giffoni Opportunity, Claudio Gubitosi – the first of a long series of stages during which we will celebrate our first fifty years of history and innovation".
Beyond Giffoni Valle Piana, 10 other cities will host this first event as a preview: Cittanova (Calabria), San Donà di Piave (Veneto), Tonara (Sardinia), Palermo (Sicily), Montescaglioso (Basilicata), Ferrara (Emilia Romagna), Castellana Grotte (Puglia), Benevento (Campania), Tropea (Calabria) and Terranova di Pollino (Basilicata). A long journey that will continue from October to December, stopping in forty other Italian cities.
Giffony Day in Cittanova
At 4.00pm at the SRC headquarters (Provincial Road 1 of Gioia Tauro and Locri, 98, Cittanova RC, at Ex-Prison) the President of the Giffoni Experience Institution Piero Rinaldi and the Administrative Manager of the Institution Vincenzo Barletta they will meet girls and boys, cultural associations and the representatives of the territorial hubs.
On this occasion it will be delivered to mayor of Cittanova, Francesco Cosentino, and to the founder and director of the SRC, Walter Cordopatri, the recognition of #Giffoni50 for the work carried out in the area as thanks for the work carried out in promoting the festival.
All the Italian hubs together with the Giffoni team with the Ipsofactory, a young hotbed of talent and creatives, will communicate live on Zoom with Antonio Giuliano, mayor of Giffoni, connected by the Citadel of Cinema.
During connection, the director Claudio Gubitosi, live from San Donà di Piave, will intervene to present the event.
“This will be the opportunity – added Gubitosi – to thank the school network of the respective cities, the mayors and directors of the territorial hubs for what they have built so far with the aim of promoting and supporting the example of Giffoni".
At 9.30pm in Piazza Garibaldi (Cittanova) it will be previewed for the public the documentary film “This is Giffoni”, created by the Giffoni production team to tell the world of Giffoni seen through the eyes of its protagonists in an hour and a half, through an exciting collage of fragments, created over eight months of work.
The Giffoni Day is part of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the ed is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region.
