The Calabria Acting School confirms itself as a point of reference for the training projects of Giffoni in the South

From last November 27th, and until next December 2nd, the reality directed by Walter Cordopatri will be the protagonist of two different courses that will involve over 3500 teenagers. The third edition of the Giffoni School Experience, a route dedicated to local schools, and the Andata e Ritorno campus "Sixteen ways to say hello": an initiative selected by the social enterprise "Con i Bambini", entirely owned by Fondazione con il Sud, which will see girls and boys from Campania, Calabria, Basilicata, Sardinia and Veneto as protagonists. Last Monday, inside the headquarters of the SRC in Cittanova, the two paths were presented at a press conference in the presence, among others, of the patron of the Giffoni Film Festival Claudio Gubitosi, the vice-president of the regional council Giusy Princi, the director of the school Walter Cordopatri, the mayor of Cittanova Francesco Cosentino, the head of the Giffoni projects Marco Cesaro, the very young actress Nicole Sorace, a student of the SRC who at only fourteen was chosen as protagonist of the Disney film “The First Omen-The Jackal”. A further qualifying piece that is accompanying the Calabria Acting School in its institutionalization path. «We have been collaborating with Giffoni for six years – underlined Cordopatri – which is a great source of inspiration for us. There was once a prison here, while today this space is open to all. We have grown and built unthinkable things, with perseverance, competence and a bit of healthy madness. What makes the difference, step by step, is teamwork." «When I came to Cittanova for the first time – recalled Claudio Gubitosi – I found a reality in turmoil and fertile ground where good ideas could take root. The things we make are a mixture of components. The extraordinary product of collaborations, where everyone puts a part of themselves and their skills. And what happens here is something that improves the world. A laboratory that generates beauty thanks to culture and imagination. In Giffoni the kids grow up and quickly learn to be together. An extraordinary way to get out of the misunderstanding that wants kids to have the strength of the future without citizenship in the present. Let's start changing things now." Vice President Giusy Princi was also enthusiastic about the activities carried out in Cittanova. «What you do here is really important – she stated – and I am sure that the Region will be on your side in all those growth paths that the school will put in place for the territory and at the service of young Calabrians». Since the birth of the SRC, the Municipal Administration of Cittanova has always supported the project animated by Walter Cordopatri. «This reality – explained the mayor Francesco Cosentino – is a point of reference for the training, educational and cultural policies of our territory. We have always supported the project with conviction. As for Giffoni, we are proud of its constant presence in Cittanova. The work carried out by Gubitosi and his team speaks of an unparalleled global experience." In particular, "Sixteen ways to say hello" is a project selected by the social enterprise Con i Bambini, as part of the Fund to combat child educational poverty, entirely participated by Fondazione con il Sud. The initiative, conceived and implemented by Giffoni, will involve thousands of young people, aged 11 to 17, from Campania (Eboli and Giffoni Valle Piana), Calabria (Cittanova), Basilicata (Terranova di Pollino), Sardinia for four years (Nuoro) and Veneto (San Donà di Piave). In these days the activities are featuring Cittanova thanks to the support of the Calabria Acting School and Goodwill. In recent days, the girls and boys involved in the activities also received a visit from the president of the Calabria Film Commission Anton Giulio Grande and the Honorable Tilde Minasi. «This school is an excellence for our region – underlined the senator – and deserves great attention from institutional actors. I believe that support for this virtuous path is important for the growth of the territory itself." According to Anton Giulio Grande: «this structure is a heritage of this land and the hope is that the SRC finds the right recognition along its way. Nicole Sorace's story is a clear example of the importance of this school for Calabria."
