The educational coordinator of the SRC in the role of Francesco Totti's father

There is also a bit of SRC in the current series “Speravo de died before – The series on Francesco Totti”, which has just finished on Sky Atlantic. In fact, Enzo, Totti's father, is played by Giorgio Colangeli, educational coordinator of the Calabria Acting School, created and directed by Walter Cordopatri.

Directed by Luca Ribuoli and produced by Mario Gianani, “I was hoping he would die sooner” tells the end of the long journey of the Roma captain with the yellow and red shirt, which remained the same for 27 years, including archive images of the most exciting moments of his career and combining the sporting epic of a true champion of Italian and world football, told in the tormented period before his retirement, and the private life of a courageous, simple and self-deprecating man, always linked to football and to a city, Rome, of which he has become a symbol and flag over the years.

In addition to Giorgio Colangeli, in the role of the father, there is Pietro Castellitto in the role of Francesco Totti, Greta Scarano who plays Ilary Blasi, his wife and Monica Guerritore who is the mother Fiorella.

In the series, Enzo Totti played by Giorgio Colangeli is a character endowed with great irony and a subtly cynical but also tender and free-range spirit, very linked to everyday life and the exercise of affections (even without too many words): a masculine, and typically Roman, archetype. «I don't follow football, but I was pleased to play Totti's father – declared Colangeli -. As a Roman and a Romanist with a family tradition, it was an experience absolutely worth having."

The educational coordinator of the SRC, who during his career has acted in over 100 films, winning a Nastro d'Argento and a David di Donatello, has embraced the ambitious project of the young actor from Rizziconi from the beginning, to create an acting school, one of a kind, strongly believing in its potential. Colangeli's foresight was confirmed within a few months, since the Calabria Acting School has quickly become a prestigious reality, coveted by many young people, who every year try to be part of it by supporting the September auditions for the MasterClass.

The only one in the South, it trains students from all over Southern Italy, offering them a very high level training offer, with highly qualified teachers. Colangeli himself, in addition to holding the role of teaching coordinator, is also a teacher, making his almost fifty-year career available to students. The SRC, which in addition to academic training, also offers laboratory training, with four classes divided by age groups, and an evening course, has continued its activity despite the pandemic, with online lessons and by June will deliver the diploma to the 6 aspiring actors of the Triennio Accademico 2018/2020. For the occasion, Giorgio Colangeli will return to Calabria to directly deliver the diploma to his students.
