Like every year, as a worthy conclusion to the SRC's three-year teaching plan, the students of the School put themselves to the test to experiment in the field with the important knowledge acquired, thanks to complete acting training.
For The First Day, official production of Calabria Acting School, to direct and write the film, Salvatore Romano, well-known Director of "Un posto al Sole", as well as Teacher of the School. Protagonists, the six boys of the third year MasterClass: Archangel Deleus, Elisabetta Licastro, Ilaria Nucera, Tonio Sibio, Federica Sottile, Cecilia Versace; to embellish the cast, the homage of Giorgio Colangeli, David di Donatello and Italian Silver Ribbon, as well as Educational Coordinator of the SRC.
To the Director of Photography, Elio Bisignani, master with important professional experiences behind him. Assisting operator, the young Saverio Mauro; production assistant, Eurema Pentimalli; hair and makeup by Nadia Mastroieni and Graziella Citroni; while Nic Dardano and Porzia De Crea, on the scenography.
It was filmed in Cittanova, Sunday 14th and Monday 15th February, at the splendid location of the Principessa Oliveto, between the interiors and exteriors of the structure, in the midst of an enchanting setting among immense olive trees and boundless greenery. The entire troupe was formed by representatives of the School, and all the students worked with dedication to carry out this project. Filming began in complete safety, only after carrying out swabs, as required by law. The completed work will be presented at the major national festivals, as has already been done in previous years.
It was an extraordinary experience for the kids who, with this short, tackled a delicate topic: the events of a family trying to survive the illness of a man suffering from Alzheimer's; a father who fights against this darkness that annihilates, against his memory that abandons him, to the point of not allowing him to recognize his own children.
An important piece for local cinema which, thanks to the SRC, brings new emotions to life every year.
The Director and Founder of the School, Walter Cordopatri, moved and satisfied with the successful work, addresses everyone with an all-encompassing thank you: "I sincerely thank all those who took part in this new work: the owner of the structure, Adriano Raso, who spent himself unreservedly on the project, offering all the comforts necessary to shoot in the best possible way; Salvatore Romano who also this year directed the short film very well; the maestro Giorgio Colangeli, who for me is now much more than a colleague and friend, a person who has embraced the project of the School with the same unconditional love of a father; all the students who contributed to it, in particular Sergio Nicolaci and Giovanni Martino.” There is no shortage of immense good luck from the Director to the students who will soon graduate: "It is a unique emotion to see them at work in their first official job. May it be the first of a long series."
