THE ACTING SCHOOL OF CALABRIA CELEBRATES THE 49TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DISCOVERY OF THE RIACE BRONZES.
"Due Bronzi e un Capanno", a theatrical short by the Calabria Acting School, will be staged on August 20th at 9.30pm on the Riace Marina beach. Born within the Cittanova Radici Association, from an idea of the Cittanova author Nino Surace, the show will come to life thanks to the Artistic Direction of Walter Cordopatri, creator and Director of the SRC, who will also be its performer together with Fortunato Verduci, actor and musician from Reggio Emilia, with the narrating voice of the new SRC graduate Federica Sottile, the songs of the splendid Marinella Rodà, the exciting choreographies of the SRC teacher Giovanni Battista Gangemi, the costumes and scenography by the professional artists and SRC collaborators Nick Dardano, Porzia De Crea, Eurema Pentimalli, the mastery of the Hair Stylist and Make Up Artist Nadia Mastroieni.
The event, strongly desired by the Municipalities of Riace and Cittanova, as well as by the Pro Loco "I Bronzi per Riace" and by the Cittanova Radici Association, wants to remember, on its 49th anniversary, the discovery of the two splendid bronze warriors considered among the most significant testimonies of classical Greek art, which have now become the undisputed symbol of the Calabrian land and its Magna Graecia origins.
Hosted by the journalist Enzo Romeo, the evening will host speeches by: Antonio Trifoli, mayor of Riace, Francesco Cosentino, mayor of Cittanova, Domenica Sorrenti, president of the Cittanova Radici Association, Marcella Pisano, president of Pro Loco "I Bronzi per Riace", Maria Capece, delegate for Culture of the Municipality of Riace, Nino Surace, author from Cittanova. "A fitting homage to this wonderful Calabrian story now famous throughout the world. A theatrical short that aims to kick off the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Bronzes which will fall next year" says Director Cordopatri.
An important moment of discussion and valorization of the great cultural and artistic heritage of which we are custodians, the first act of a new and exciting collaboration, which will see the sealing, precisely on this occasion, of the twinning between the two common godfathers of the evening.
