The Calabria Acting School present at the 50th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, scheduled from 18 to 22 August. An important birthday for the most important youth film festival in the world in which the School directed by Walter Cordopatri in Cittanova.
The world of entertainment is going through a particular and difficult moment due to the health emergency, but the show directed by Claudio Gubitosi it presents itself equally special and rich. A project that unfolds in time and space, adapting in its articulation to the restrictive conditions necessary at this moment, without sacrificing quality and durability. There are two main tranches of the program, from 18 to 22 August dedicated to the Generator +16 and Generator +18 juries; the second from 25 to 29 August reserved for Generator +13 jurors.
There are 47 works in competition from 26 nations, 610 jurors physically involved, 46 hubs of which 32 in Italy and 14 abroad, 2000 jurors in presence and in streaming, and among these the young people of the Calabria Acting School, chosen as the festival's hub.
The young members of the School will in fact be involved as jurors both in person, with a small delegation accompanied by a teacher, and in streaming; a representation of the children will remotely attend the screenings and vote for the works in competition, together with their Italian and foreign peers. The comparison and relationship with young people from various parts of the world, through the lens of international cinema, represents a unique and exhilarating experience for the students of the School, which has been involved in the great project of the Giffoni Film Festival since its foundation.
An ongoing collaboration culminated last November with lo School Experience Festival, a traveling festival created by Giffoni Experience within the scope of National Cinema Plan for the SRC and promoted by MIUR And MIBACT: hundreds of children from the lower secondary schools of Cittanova and the Piana di Gioia Tauro were involved in a Film Festival dedicated to them.
Today the partnership is confirmed and strengthened with the 50th edition of the Festival, which sees the director Walter Cordopatri fully satisfied: «A reality like ours can only consolidate with national and international relations, and the one with the Giffoni Film Festival is particularly significant. Despite the difficulties of the current year, we responded promptly to the proposals we received and took immediate action to ensure that our young people did not miss this opportunity."
