A Master of Italian Theatre in Cittanova: Danio Manfredini at Scuola di Recitazione della Calabria

From 8 to 12 July 2026, SRC hosts an intensive advanced-training workshop led by one of the most authoritative artists on the contemporary theatre scene.

From 8 to 12 July 2026, Scuola di Recitazione della Calabria welcomes Danio Manfredini—award-winning author, performer and theatre educator—for a five-day intensive workshop for students and alumni of the School.

The workshop takes place daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Polo Solidale per la Legalità “F. Vinci”, Viale Merano s.n.c., Cittanova (RC).

THE WORKSHOP

Rooted in Manfredini's teaching practice, the workshop explores the body as a place of listening and expression, together with voice work and emotional memory.

Participants will work on memorised texts from the classical and contemporary theatre repertoire, bringing them into the performance space under his direct guidance.

ABOUT DANIO MANFREDINI

One of the most acclaimed artists in Italian theatre, Danio Manfredini received the Ubu Award for Best Actor in 1999, Best Director in 2004, the Special Ubu Award in 2013 for his overall artistic and educational work, and the Ubu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023.

In 2025, he received the Maestro del Teatro Italiano award in Radicondoli. He directed the Academy of Dramatic Art at Teatro Bellini in Naples and currently leads the advanced Repertorio training programme at Teatro Metastasio in Prato.
